Select One of the Following Three Topics

1. How would you describe the transformation of Senator Katherine Leforge's relationship with Zoe Shelly starting from its inception in Lumberton, TX to its conclusion near Charlestown, NH? Debate the psychological and extra sensory awareness they shared.

2. Hulagu's Web discusses evil in various forms. What were the spiritual beliefs that emanated from the pages of the book? What is your interpretation of the phrase, "Sorat's evil will be spread by his infernal army of soulless followers, willing to give their lives for his pleasure in subjecting mankind to horror of the ultimate magnitude. Where did these beliefs originate and do they manifest themselves in today's world?

3. Discuss the various forms of alternative energy that Senator Katherine Laforge proposes and contrast them with the energy sources she felt were inferior. What was her primary motivation in promoting these forms of alternative energy?

Hulagu’s Web—Judging

Essays will be judged on both style and content. Judges will look for writing that is clear, articulate and logically organized. Winning essays must demonstrate an outstanding grasp of the philosophic meaning of Hulagu’s Web.
Essay submissions are evaluated in a fair and unbiased four-round judging process. Judges are individually selected by officials of AmericaEvolving.COM based on a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Hulagu’s Web. To ensure the anonymity of our participants, essay cover sheets are removed after the first round. Winners’ names are unknown to judges until after essays have been ranked and the contest results finalized.

Hulagu’s Web—Rules

No application is required.
Contest is open to adults and students worldwide.
A stapled cover sheet MUST include: name and address of entrant; entrant’s e-mail address (if available); and topic selected (1, 2 or 3 from list above).
Essay must be no fewer than 800 and no more than 1,600 words in length, and must be typewritten and double-spaced. One entry per individual, please.
Essay must be solely the work of the entrant.
Your posting of your essays under your name on other sites is permitted and recommended for additional points. Number of postings of an essay can help break a tie based on intellectual content, composition and style.
Essay must be postmarked no later than June 1, 2010.
Decisions of the judges are final.
Employees of Subterfuge Publishing and AmericaEvolving.com, its board of directors and their immediate family members are not eligible for this contest.
All entries become the property of AmericaEvolving.com and will not be returned.
Winners and other participants will be notified by July 1, 2010.
